WE READ THE RULES SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO: DARWIN'S JOURNEY & LORDS OF WATERDEEP

Our We Read The Rules event will take place on Thursday evenings with our ‘Games of the Month’, which we will share on each individual event and on our social channels.

Your Games Tutors will be on hand to teach you how to play and will be available throughout the event if you get stuck or need a reminder of any specific rules. And there’s no time limit, so you can enjoy the game until closing.

Game 1 – Lords of Waterdeep hosted by Phillip Stocks

Plays up to 5 - there are 4 tickets available for playing this game

Lords of Waterdeep, is a Dungeons & Dragons themed medium weight strategy board game (suggested age 12+). You take on the role of one of the masked Lords of Waterdeep, secret rulers of the city. Through your agents, you recruit adventurers to go on quests on your behalf, earning rewards and increasing your influence over the city. Expand the city by purchasing new buildings that open up new actions on the board, and hinder – or help – the other lords by playing Intrigue cards to enact your carefully laid plans.

During the course of play, you may gain points or resources through completing quests, constructing buildings, playing intrigue cards or having other players utilize the buildings you have constructed. At the end of 8 rounds of play, the player who has accrued the most points wins the game.

Game 2: Darwins’ Journey hosted by Outside The Box Founder, Rachel Eade

Darwin's Journey is a medium-heavyweight worker-placement Eurogame in which players recall Charles Darwin's memories of his adventure through the Galapagos islands, which contributed to the development of his theory of evolution.

With the game's innovative worker progression system, each worker will have to study the disciplines that are a prerequisite to perform several actions in the game, such as exploration, correspondence, gathering, and dispatch of repertoires found on the island to museums in order to contribute to the human knowledge of biology. The game lasts five rounds, and thanks to several short- and long-term objectives, every action you take will grant victory points in different ways.
